18 in 2018 February – April Review

I blinked, and suddenly both February and March have been and gone, and it’s nearly the end of April! Things have been insanely busy over here, with lots going on at work and at home. I’m now in the middle of a week off work and just looking around like ‘when did all this happen?’. I know that I haven’t made as much progress on my goals as I would like, but there’s still time to turn this year around. Read more about what I have managed to do below!

18 Books Read

I didn’t manage to finish any books in February or March, but I have finished one in April and made progress towards another! I did also finish two audiobooks, but I’m not counting that (depending on how well I’m doing at the end of the year, I might change this!). Hopefully I’m going to be able to turn this around.

17 Thousand Words Written

I didn’t have any time for writing for fun in the past two months, and I missed the beginning of Camp NaNoWriMo so my brain then went ‘Well, what’s the point of trying?’ Thanks brain, very useful! I am hoping to get at least a thousand words done this week though!

16 New (Low FODMAP) Recipes Tried

Like in January, I managed some new recipes, but none of them were Low FODMAP recipes. I also remade some of the recipes I got in a previous Gousto box, but I still haven’t worked out whether the recipe changes I made mean they are low FODMAP now. I basically need to set aside an hour and really look at the recipes and what changes I might need to make – I’ve probably made more progress on this one than I think!

£15 a Month Saved

Done, plus some extra change added throughout the past couple of months. We’ve now planned our family holiday for the year – we’ll be heading off to Disneyland Paris after Christmas – so I now have something definite to be putting money aside for. Any money I put away will mean more to spend while on holiday!

14 Sugar-Free Days

Still no progress on this one. This is going to be one of the biggest challenges for me, not just in execution but planning, and I think that’s got me running scared. I’m going to aim to do at least one day in what still remains of April, just to prove to myself that I can do it!

13 Planning Sessions

I didn’t manage this for February, and I really felt it. (I also didn’t manage if for March or April, and am feeling it again). This has at least shown me how much of a difference it can make, so I need to ensure I carve out time to plan for May. Having this week off is really helping me catch up with everything, and I’m hoping to use it as a proper point to reevaluate what I need to do over the next four months to reach my goals.

12 Blog Posts

I posted two in February – ‘Roxy’s Romance Tips‘ and ‘A Story and a Grovel‘. This made up for the post I missed in January. I then didn’t post anything in March or April, so I’m back to being one post behind! I’m hoping to create some amazing content this week to queue up for you all to enjoy in the weeks ahead.

11 No Spend Weeks

I didn’t manage a full month, but I have managed a few runs of a couple of days. However, my bank account really isn’t looking as healthy as I’d like, so I’m going to need to start doing this again as soon as possible! Even if I just manage a couple of days here and there, it’ll be better than nothing – this is what I need to remind myself!

10 Minutes Meditation a Day

I started the year off really strong with this one and it’s slowly going downhill. I started trying to do it in bed before going to sleep – but I’d just end up falling asleep. Then I started not doing it at all. A million excuses for why not have just come to mind, but actually, I shouldn’t be making excuses. I should just be doing it, because it’s one of my goals (and on my daily to-do list). So let’s hope I can turn this around in May.

9 Times My Instagram Followers

Some teeny tiny progress, but no huge waves. I’m still struggling to find the time, even though I know exactly what I should be doing it make this work. I need to set aside some time to start queuing posts up (now the Instagram API allows for that, I have no excuse), and then I’ll start to make some real progress. But I’ve been having some great conversations, which is better than follower numbers anyway!

8 Hours Sleep a Night

I thought I’d been really struggling with this one (mornings continue to be the worst for me, as a weight sits on my chest and stops me jumping out of bed) but I discovered this morning that my phone has been tracking my sleep patterns and I’m actually not doing that badly? If I could get into bed a tiny bit earlier each night that would be great, but I need to balance that with my inner night owl fighting to get out.

7 Nights Away

I went away with work?  I don’t think that counts though! I am off work this week but I decided to have a stay-cation to firstly catch up with everything I need to do around the house, but also save a little bit of money for a proper holiday later in the year. My family have booked a holiday to Disneyland Paris after Christmas, so that will be a couple of nights away a least!

6 Glasses of Water a Day

I have really gone back downhill with this one, but I’m confident that with a little more focus on this goal, I’ll be able to meet it. If you have any tips for making sure you drink enough water each day, do let me know and I’ll try them out!

5 Craft Projects Finished

I still have one knitted project waiting to be blocked, and one cross-stitch project with a little backstitch left to do. I also have a crochet project that is on hold until I get some stuffing and a knitting and cross-stitch project that I’m working on. As long as I keep working on all thee things, I should get this done by the end of the year!

4 Courses Finished

I’ve managed to do a couple more classes for Google Digital Garage, but I haven’t made any huge strides in this. Again, with this week off work, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get through a couple of classes. I’ve also been going to a couple of free classes at General Assembly here in London, which has been great for getting a little bit more insight into everything from digital marketing to personal development.

Exercise 3 Times a Week

This one has been very up and down. After the sponsored walk  I did with my family, I told myself ‘hey, that’s enough exercise for one week!’ And then one week turned into two, and three, and I just never got back into it. I don’t really know why I let myself get away with that excuse in the first place because I know it’s complete nonsense excuse. I’m getting myself back into the right rhythm with my week off, making sure I go on a walk by myself everyday (and then a walk with Roxy later in the day). Hopefully it’ll start becoming a habit now, and it will be easier to keep it up!

2 Rooms Minimum

As I said in my last post, I’m really not concentrating on this until the second half of the year, if at all. I sometimes get this gnawing feeling like I need a big change, which is how this got on my list in the first place. I did a reshuffle of my furniture that has completely changed the feeling of my flat, so now I don’t have that gnawing feeling anymore. I’ll be happy here for at least a couple more months!

1 Social Media Post a Day

This one continues to be a struggle, but I’m making moves in the right direction. At the moment, it’s all about making sure I’m following the right people so that I can make sure I’m sharing the right things with my lovely followers!

So there’s a huge roundup of February, March and April 2018! Hopefully, I’ll be getting myself back on track in May, and have much better progress to report back next month!
